The Van: No build minivan conversion Part 3

road tripping dog

We are going on a trip, our second solo weekend vanventuring trip. Luke and I are headed to San Simeon, California in the Central Coast of California. The first weekend vanventuring trip was successful, but I felt like we needed to tweak the setup in the back to be a little bit more comfortable.

The goal is to ensure that I have all the necessities in the van or in the rooftop storage, but we also need to make sure that they are easily accessible.  For this no build portion, I put the step stool, kitchen storage, and Luke’s soft crate under my Hest mattress on the driver side.

The major changes for this build was that I stacked a good amount of the supply boxes that i purchased at Target and the Container Store next to the passenger side of the sliding door. This way the mattress didn’t lie very flat, but acted more of back cushion which was great for sitting like a couch.  I also moved the iceless Igloo cooler the the “trunk” of the van because it would be connected the 12V plug to stay cool while driving.

Here is an overview of the supplies I had and where they were stored

Next to the passenger sliding door and/or under the mattress on the passenger side

*Mini kitchen box (soap and towels)

*Bathroom box (toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, soap, feminine products)

*Dog gearbox (extra leash, toys, poop bags

  *Luke’s clothes

  *Luke’s food

  *Insect repellant

  *my medicine and Luke’s medicine

Front seat and floor of the front seat

*Mini Always Pot and Mini Always Pan

 *Water

 *Window coverings

 *Small Igloo of snacks

 *tool bag

 *hot water bottle heaters

In the “well” of the trunk

 *Solar Panel

*big kitchen box (stove, utensils, plates, mugs, bowls, table cloth)

 *Ignik propane tank

 *toilet

On top of the mattress and on the floor behind the driver seat

 *blankets

 *pillows

 *hiking backpack

*bag of shoes (hiking, sandals, and camp shoes)

 *backpack of my clothes

*backpack with chargers, Luke’s paperwork, book, Sudoku book, and playing cards

 *EcoFlow Power charging stations

The set up is not perfect and I can guarantee that we’ll make changes again. But so far it looks good and I just want to get back out to our next camp spot.

Stay tuned as we share our adventure.

HAPPY VANVENTURING!
